(2017 - 2024)

These two paintings frame a significant period between 2017 and 2024, bookended by two total solar eclipses that crossed the United States. The first eclipse, on August 21, 2017, traversed from the West Coast to the East Coast. The second, on April 8, 2024, moved from south to north, intersecting with the 2017 eclipse path in Carbondale, Illinois, forming an “X” on the map. Historically, total solar eclipses crossing a nation’s borders have been interpreted as omens of divine judgment, with numerous examples linking such events to societal shifts. Between these eclipses, the United States experienced notable cultural and political changes, suggesting a period of potential judgment, the full significance of which history will determine.

This period also includes two remarkable celestial and historical events. On September 23, 2017, one month after the first eclipse, the Revelation 12 Sign occurred—a rare alignment of stars and planets connecting the constellations Virgo and Leo, mirroring the description in Revelation 12 of the Bible. One month after that, October 31, 2017, marked the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, a pivotal moment in religious history. Seven years after the first eclipse, the 2024 eclipse coincided with another unique phenomenon: Texas experienced two total solar eclipses crossing paths in Kerrville, forming another celestial “X.” These events, spanning 2017 to 2024, weave a tapestry of astronomical, historical, and spiritual significance.
